The Postdoctoral Program at Genentech
provides the opportunity to pursue important scientific questions while observing the drug development process. The Process Development department currently has an exciting career opportunity for an innovative, self-motivated individual who is interested in advancing the basic understanding of viral separation by resin based chromatography.
The qualified applicant will investigate the behavior of viruses on a variety of chromatography resins used routinely in protein purification processes. This work will involve elucidating the mechanisms of the virus/resin interactions during chromatography to purify therapeutic proteins. We anticipate that this position will involve significant interactions with other industry leaders as well as the FDA and other regulatory authorities.
A Ph.D. in virology, biochemistry or a related discipline is desired. The candidate will be an integral member of a group of researchers with expertise in viral clearance research and GMP viral validation studies. The successful candidate will be expected to work routinely with teams of engineers and scientists within the process development organization, collaborate with other departments including manufacturing sciences, quality, and regulatory affairs. The candidate will be expected to contribute to some of the key decisions being made in drug development in the biopharmaceutical industry. The candidate must possess exceptional written and oral communication skills.
